Resources Announces

After 25 years of dedicated and exceptional service, Karen T. Schlesinger will be stepping down as Executive Director of Resources for Children with Special Needs in early January 2008. Under her leadership both as a Co-Founder and Executive Director, Resources has become one of New York City's leading child advocacy and resource organizations.

Motivated by Karen's unshakeable belief in the right of people with disabilities to full inclusion in community life, all at Resources have worked tirelessly and effectively to ensure that right and to open doors to participation and acceptance. Many thousands of children and youth with disabilities, their families, caregivers and those who work on their behalf have relied on Resources for practical, critically needed and accurate information; empathetic support born of shared experience; tenacious advocacy, transforming training, and a clear and committed voice in the public arena.

Resources' Board of Directors and its Transition Committee are beginning an energetic search for a new Executive Director and, along with Karen and our superb staff, have embarked on a smooth and collaborative transition process. With fall around the corner, all at Resources are already into an exciting and eventful program year, one that we know will build upon our reputation for achievement and excellence.

We know that you join us in recognizing Karen's accomplishments with pride, and in looking forward to 2008, Resources' 25th Anniversary Year. Your continued support will be very important to Resources and our new Executive Director.
