We need your help! A critical program for children with autism spectrum disorders is in danger of losing its funding.
Join RCSN and other providers for a rally and press conference with City Councilman Mark Weprin on the steps of City Hall in New York City, at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 25th, 2010.
Families from all five boroughs have received much needed help with the citywide “1 in 150” City Council initiative that has served thousands of children, families and professionals. If you are a parent of a child who has benefited from this program, let us know if you would be available to be interviewed at the press conference. Contact Helene Craner for more information about this rally to maintain the funding for this essential program.
City Council “1 in 150” funding over the last year supported 12 training and 13 wraparound providers who collectively conducted over 145 training workshops for parents and educators reaching over 3,000 professionals, parents and caregivers and in all five boroughs. An average of 17 workshops for families and professionals have been provided each month through the initiative. Wraparound services are providing afterschool and weekend programming such as: a basketball league, weekend respite, holiday activities, crisis intervention, and kids clubs for 230 children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
To show your support, contact your City Council representative and join us for the rally on May 25th.
